Emry is on the mend

This is our cat Emry. He is a lovely fellow. Both he and his brother suffer from seizures. When he was just a kitten we noticed that there was something a little different about him. He would be playing with the other kittens and then his third eyelids would roll up and cover his eyes. As he got a little older he would fall over for no apparent reason. We decided the other kittens could go to a loving home but we would keep Emry.

He came in the other night with a cut on his ear. It did not look dangerous so I did not give it another thought. Then two days later I found blood on the kitchen floor and it looked as if someone had shaved the hair off of his ear. He was wounded but it still did not look dangerous.

Yesterday we realized that infection had set in and the side of his face was very swollen. He had a large abscess on the right side of his face. I cleaned his wound with a salt water solution and tried to find the original puncture. His poor little face was so lop-sided. We decided we would leave it one more day and hope that Mother Nature would take care of things. If not we would have to take him to the vet.

This morning hubby found little puddles of blood all over the main floor. He cleaned it up and he cleaned Emry up as well. He made a little bed for Emry beside his chair in the living room and when I came downstairs this morning there was Emry resting on the bed. He has been so lethargic for the last 3 days. Now we know why. He is on the mend and when he asks to go outside again we will know that he is really feeling better. For now he is content just to stay in the house.

This is Emry lying on the living room window sill.

This is Emry with his sister Emma to his left and his brother Hans to his right. So cute. Our cats are our furry babies. We love them all.

Love Always,
Kim

Say farewell to Summer

Oh summer is almost over. It took such a long time to arrive and now it is gone. It slips away so quickly. You put your head down and the next thing you know, September is just around the corner. Last night it was very foggy and the night before that we had a terrific thunderstorm. We have not had our typical summer weather this year. I wanted to do so many projects but they are still waiting for me. Mostly it was the lack of motivation and a small part was due to cloudy and cool days.

My mother has called twice in the last week to tell me two people that I know have passed away. One of the two gentlemen I have know most of my life. Life is short. We must be thankful for all we have. The good news is my nephew is engaged and he and his love will be getting married It is better to have a day filled with joy and memories than one filled with regret.

I just had a two day trip to Toronto to see my very best girlfriend. We had a wonderful time. We talk on the phone all the time but it is not the same as having the person sitting across from you. I have and always will value her friendship.

I was also able to have a little visit with my son. We had lunch together and we had so many things to talk about. We went to a favourite little Italian restaurant that we used to frequent. I drove through the neighbourhood where I lived and there were so many houses being torn down and larger homes being built on the same spot. Most things looked the same but some were gone completely. Changes are inevitable.

I hope you are well and please be thankful for all the good things in your life.

Love Always,
Kim

Summer Memories

When I was a little girl and my mother was a little girl my grandmother would go to the fields just outside of town and pick wild strawberries. She would bring them home and make jam with them. I will always remember that taste. It was fresh and sweet and it has been a long time since I have tasted a strawberry with such intense flavour.
I have my grandmother's recipe and the market where we buy all of our fresh fruits and vegetables from is selling strawberries at the moment. I guess I need to get some jars and get busy. Hope you have some wonderful summer memories too.
I made this card as I was thinking about how nice it would be to have homemade jam with my scones or toast. Have a great day!

Antique Images Friday Link Party

I am joining the Friday Link party at Antique Images. Just click on the link to join the party. Carolyn has such beautiful images. It makes it very easy to make lovely cards and beautiful stationery. For this piece of stationery I used Carolyn's clematis image. I love the colours.
I remember that when I was growing up we used to see our neighbours clematis growing through our fence. She had her flowers growing on strings that she had attached to her side of the fence. I think that flowers bring such joy.
Thank you Carolyn for hosting the party. Have a lovely weekend.

Happy Birthday

This card is made with the newest pink rose image from the Graphics Fairy. You don't have to do much to make an image like this look good. Today is my birthday. This card is for me and anyone else who likes it. Have a wonderful day.

I already received my gift from my husband and we are going out to dinner with my parents this evening. I am looking forward to dinner out and I know the restaurant we are going to will have lots of desserts to choose from. The birthday girl deserves a piece of  birthday cake. I will probably choose chocolate because that is my favourite.

My New Tea Wagon

I love all things tea. I love drinking tea. My favourite tea is Darjeeling, that grows in Darjeeling Indian. It is an estate tea that I purchase from a shop called "Cooks Cupboard". Elspeth carries more than tea. She has cooking utensils, sauces and seasonings, wine glasses, teapots and almost every gadget you can think of. My next purchase from her shop will be a couple of graters, you know the new kind that do such a lovely job of grating cheese, zesting fruit peels and so on. anyway back to the tea.
I have a collection of teacups that I have collected over the years or been given by my mother and grandmother my husband or friends. I cherish all of them. I use them everyday to have my tea.
It is my birthday this month and I have wanted this for a long time. Now I have one of my own.

I love giving tea parties for my friends and now I have the perfect piece of furniture. This is my birthday gift from my hubby. Thanks dear I love it but most of all I love you.

Love Always,
 Kim

Antique Images Friday Linky Party

I am so pleased to be able to take part in Antique Images Friday Linky Party. It is wonderful to be part of a community that puts kindness, caring and support at the top of their list. I have never met a nicer bunch of women. There are so many things that one can be involved in these days but having all the images at hand from Carolyn at Antique Images and the many others that are willing to share their passion and treasures is incredible.
I love pink, tea, teacups, antique furniture, roses oh, I love roses, Victorian and Vintage images. I love to write and create stationery and cards to give to friends and family. Being part of this community has allowed me to surround myself with all of these things and more. Friendship is a precious gift and I am blessed to have this as well. Nowhere can you meet like minded individuals each with their own talents that are willing to share.
I am proud to be part of your Friday Linky Party Carolyn. Thank you so much.

I love these little birds with the flowers and the scene in the background. I think that it looks so pretty framed. You could use this as a card, or a label or as a header for stationery. This is my contribution to Carolyn's first Linky party.

Love Always,
Kim

Hutch for the Kitchen

Here is my new hutch for the kitchen. I finally found a piece of furniture the right size and the right price for my kitchen. It is going to sit on the outside wall between the stove and the fridge. This is how it looked before I picked it up. It looked very sad and unloved. It needs some TLC, a bath, some primer, paint, new hardware and possibly some of that paintable wallpaper for behind the shelves. The only thing that I will have to move for this to fit between the appliances is the microwave; I want the microwave to sit above my stove anyway.
I have been looking for the right hutch for months. I wanted to have a hutch so that I can keep my tea things right beside the stove. I have room for the cat food, cat treats and paper products underneath and I will be able to display some of my lovely things on the shelves which are carefully tucked away at the moment. This was the start to my week. I will take pictures as I go along so that you can see the metamorphosis. Have a great day.

Kim

Happy Easter Bunny

I just made this picture to hang beside my breakfast table. I made it the size of an 8.5 " x 11.5" sheet of card stock. I have already sent my Easter card which is in my last post but I think I will make a copy of this to take to my mother-in-law. I love the bunny and the chicks and the basket of pink and white chrysanthemums. So pretty for Easter.
I am joining Beverly for Pink Saturday. Hop on over to see more pink, more Easter and more Spring. Have a lovely Easter weekend and I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are.

The Bunny jumped over the Egg

Here is my Easter card for this year. Easter is not far off now. We are still in the midst of winter. There is snow on the ground and we are lucky if the temperature gets to the zero mark. I love to bake when Easter arrives. My favourite thing to bake was Hot Cross buns. The kids are in their own homes and so there is only me to eat them now. I think this is one year I might let the tradition slide.

I haven't seen the bunnies outside lately as it has been too cold. The starlings are back though starting their nest for this year's babies. I hope this is a sign that "Spring" is on its way.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Love Always,
Kim

My Pink Tea Party

I had my "Pink Tea Party" yesterday to celebrate love and friendship. I used my pink tablecloth with a lace cloth over top. I set the table with pretty dishes from the second hand shop, my pink Depression glass and my grandmother's silverware. I put all of my bunnies in the middle of the table.
We had a guest arrive at the last moment, Rudy. He did not need a place setting or teacup he was just happy to sit at the end of the table and enjoy the conversation. As you can see he just loves to have his picture taken. He is well mannered and he is always welcome at my tea party.

We had tea and little salmon as well as cucumber tea sandwiches with the crusts cut off. We had fresh scones with homemade rhubarb jam and we had chocolate cake with chocolate icing for our dessert. Everyone was happy and content. The sun shone all day and streamed in the windows and it made for a glorious day.
Today is a day of rest. The sun is still shining, there is no snow in the forecast and the cats are already having their naps. I am just enjoying my pot of tea. I may even have another one and enjoy the solitude a little longer. I wish you a good day!

Love Always,
Kim

Candy Cane Valentine Card

I have made another Valentine card. This one has a cute little candy cane clown. I thought the little clown would look perfect standing on a heart. The heart in the clown's hand looks a lot like the candy hearts we had when I was young. Hope you enjoy.
We have gone from minus 20 degrees with wind and snow to 10 degrees and rain. Have a wonderful day!

Here is a sweet little Valentine card that I just made. I love the two little children in the vintage card. See the heart they are using as a stepping stone.  I am looking forward to Valentine's Day; I am having friends over for a Pink Tea Party. Hope you have special plans too.

Winter is here and a Love card

This is our backyard just a few moments ago. It has been snowing most of the night. It seems as if winter is really here. The temperature is minus 15 degrees Celsius. I am not a snow person and I do not really relish going out in this. Better to stay in and drink tea and keep warm. When it is like this winter is grey and gripping. I think some of the animals have the right idea; hibernate and wait for spring. So here is a cute little card that makes me think of flowers and spring. Enjoy!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Kim
